Cushing Academy encourages applications from teacher candidates with successful teaching experience as well as those who have earned their bachelor's, master's, and/or doctoral degrees, and who possess strong academic training in relevant subject areas.

Cushing seeks teacher candidates interested in the full life of our boarding school beyond the classroom. Teachers at Cushing typically work with 50 or fewer students divided among four classes. Faculty members generally coach two seasons each year and live in a dormitory where they supervise and counsel students.  

Cushing provides faculty with generous benefits, including health insurance, TIAA retirement annuities, and housing and dining privileges.

    Summer Employment Opportunities

    We invite the submission of application materials from highly energetic, creative, confident, and qualified individuals who wish to work with a dynamic group of young people from across the U.S. and around the world.

    Required Application Materials:

    • Cushing Academy Summer Session Employment Application and Official Massachusetts Application for Employment
      Note: On the Massachusetts Application for Employment, you may disregard items that refer to shiftwork as well as to full-time employment. Employment in Summer Session is for the orientation period and the 5-week session only.
    • Official copies of all transcripts (including undergraduate, graduate and/or transfer transcripts)
    • A cover letter expressing interest in Summer Session employment and detailing how your specific skills, experience, and educational background align with the position.
    • A current résumé, including the last five years of employment history if applicable
    • Two recommendations sent to Cushing directly from professors, mentors, and/or job supervisors
