Established in 1974, National History Day Contest encourages middle and high school students around the world to conduct original research on historical topics of interest. This year's theme was Triumph and Tragedy in history. Hening Barbara Wang '20 chose to take this on independently, without the traditional support of it being embedded in a classroom curriculum. She researched the Japanese occupation of Manchuria and submitted a paper for the senior paper category of the contest. We are proud of the work that she did and thank her for embodying what it means to be a curious, creative, and confident learner and leader.
