Dear Cushing community,
As we reflect on yesterday's events at the U.S. Capitol, we must process what they confirm about the issues facing our nation and threats to our democracy. These events and our collective response will have lasting consequences on our country’s future. How we support one another and work together now are key to creating meaningful change and progress.
I would like to express my deep disappointment in and shame about the terrible acts of violence yesterday and the hateful symbols carried by those who participated in these actions. Please know that my commitment remains to ensure that Cushing prioritizes justice, belonging, inclusion, and decency in our community. Our focus on this work has never been more important.
January 6 marked a sad beginning to 2021 for our country. I ask that we join together to support one another and find ways to help shape solutions during this dark and historical time.
May we all do our part to move forward with hope, working towards justice and truth.
Sincerely,
Randy R. Bertin, Ed.D.
